Today we are seeing a trend that patients, despite ever-improving capabilities of diagnosis using high-tech equipment or minimally invasive therapies (Keyhole technology in surgery and orthopaedics), are increasingly turning to alternative therapies. And this, although we have achieved in most European countries, and especially in Germany, a medical standard that is hard to beat. Due to the steady increase of knowledge in conventional medicine, further specialization in the diverse medical specialties has been reached. Meanwhile the underlying principle of the wholeness of Nature is getting increasingly lost. This is expressed by the ever-general increase in unwellness and pain, the cause of which even the most advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures cannot find or heal. The objective of this surgery is to try to reconstruct integrated medicine from the perspective of holistic orthopaedics with procedures based on the wholeness of the body, its capacity for self-regulation and the interplay between structure and function.
While acute pain is usually treated quite easily, the treatment of chronic pain is very difficult and requires comprehensive medical knowledge and social skills, as well as familiarity with the multiple factors which can have influence on pain.
Acupuncture
The oldest method in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is acupuncture. There are over a hundred different diagnoses that can be successfully treated with acupuncture.
Properly applied, there are no side effects. Acupuncture enjoys a very particular standing in the treatment of back and knee pain, but especially in everyday life, where one stressful situation chases the other, one seasonal infection follows the next one, and in case of rheumatic pain.
Applied Kinesiology
Due to easy and effective testing and treatment procedures, correlations of individual disturbances of the body, but also of function, structure and material composition can be shown in the overall context. Seen as a triad between structure, chemistry and psychology, different regulatory relationships are studied in order to restore balance.
Galileo Training Therapy
Here, the human gait is imitated by a rocking movement. Through alternate side movements, the spine and abdominal and back muscles are physiologically stimulated. The induced vibration can be adjusted continuously both in strength (amplitude) and frequency (Hertz-cycles per second) in order to change the load or the training concept.
Hydrojet Therapy
A massage waterbed with high pressure jets has a relaxing effect on muscles, especially parallel to the spine, along the major meridians.
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy acts on our bodies at different levels. On one hand, this form of light therapy has a positive influence on cell renewal, as in the treatment of wounds, and on the other it also has stimulating effects throughout the whole body. It is also applied in acupuncture (without needles) for children.
Osteopathy
A gentle method to detect and treat movement restrictions (e.g. caused by pain) and disruption of tissue layers (connective tissue) and the resulting changes in tension between muscles, tendons, joints and internal organs. This way the self-healing capacity of the whole body is brought back into balance. Diagnostic and therapeutic relationships between respiratory, digestive and hormonal, lymphatic and neurological regulation (craniosacral and visceral osteopathy) are used.
Manual Medicine/ Chirotherapy
Hand-healing recognition (diagnosis) and treatment (therapy) of temporary disorders of the locomotor system comprising spine and extremities.
This method requires a comprehensive theoretical and practical training over several years. The most common treatment approach for the relief of muscular tensions with restricted mobility in joints, such as blockage of the cervical spine (“stiff neck”), thoracic spine (pain when inhaling or exhaling)) and in the lumbar-sacral region ( "lumbago").
Magnetic Fields Therapy
This form of treatment activates the body by carrying more oxygen to blood and tissues. Under the influence of the magnetic field, red blood cells deliver more oxygen to the cells. Through this increased oxygen supply the metabolism is improved – Body wastes are removed and transported out of the body more easily (detoxification). It accomplishes harmony between body and soul and promotes the body's own healing powers. This in turn strengthens the internal immune and defence system. The magnetic resonance stimulation also leads to muscle relaxation and thus to a better blood circulation, resulting in pain reduction. This also leads to a positive influence on the autonomic nervous system.
Vojta-Method
Reflex Locomotion, according to Vojta, is a neurokinesiologic Physiotherapy treatment concept. It is based on the principle of facilitation or activation of lost or non-trained (congenital) physiological posture and movement patterns, primarily because of brain damage, but also in case of injured intervertebral discs. This is accomplished through the application of continual pressure on certain body points (a total of 20) targeting movements (reflex turnover, reflex crawling) made to improve or correct abnormal postures or movements caused for example by pain. This method was developed by the Czech child neurologist Dr. Vaclav Vojta (1917) in Prague, and later at the Kinderzentrum (Child Center), Munich.
ESWT (Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy)
Acute or chronic pain in bones, muscles, tendons, shoulder or heel can be removed using this very elegant and very effective treatment with few sessions (an average of 2-3). High-energy sound waves are directed to the painful areas (points) and often show prompt results during treatment by reducing pain intensity.
